Our mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Since our founding in 1881, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has been the leading voice promoting equity and education for women and girls as part of the national grassroots organization.
AAUW Orlando-Winter Park branch was established in 1928. Since that date, we have been actively promoting AAUW’s mission in Central Florida.
AAUW Orlando-Winter Park provides personal enrichment for members. Our monthly meetings, held from September through May, provide personal growth and networking opportunities, and interest groups promote friendship and lifelong learning opportunities.
Meetings are held in the fellowship hall of the First Congregational Church, 224 S. Interlachen Ave. in Winter Park. The meetings begin at 9 a.m. and include breakfast plus a speaker program. All meetings are open to the public, but reservations are required.
AAUW Orlando-Winter Park supports local educational opportunities for women and girls through scholarships and grants. Funding comes from branch fund-raising activities, individual philanthropy, and bequests.
The Branch Scholarship is awarded annually to qualified applicants enrolled at an accredited college or university in Central Florida.
The Valencia College Foundation Scholarship supports women enrolled in a business major at Valencia College.
The Pace Next Step Grant provides assistance to qualified Pace Center graduates for technical, trade school, or for college or university.
NCCWSL (National Conference for College Women Student Leaders). Our Branch provides support for delegates from UCF to the nation’s premier leadership conference for college women.
AAUW Orlando-Winter Park supports national non-profit 501(c)(3) funds through individual philanthropy and Branch fund-raising events.
The Legal Advocacy Fund supports the protection of legal rights of those who are facing discrimination.
The Educational Opportunities Fund supports educational opportunities which give women a chance for success.
The Public Policy Fund supports advocacy for public policies and laws that are fair to women.
The Eleanor Roosevelt Fund supports AAUW research to provide analysis, data, and accurate information about important issues, including pay gap and elections.
The Leadership Programs Fund supports programs which develop women’s potential to lead in their schools, communities, and country, focusing on college campuses.
The AAUW Fund provides support where it is needed most and is also a 501(c)(3) fund.
